Live Animal Exports (Moving Animals to Another Country)

Last Modified: April 16, 2026

Welcome to the Live Animal Exports portal. U.S. exporters can find information here about international requirements and restrictions for live animals other than pets, including hatching eggs and germplasm (semen, embryos, oocytes).

If you're looking for information about taking a pet to another country, visit Pet Travel.

Import requirements can change at any time and without prior notice. It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that their importer confirms the current certification requirements with the Ministry of Animal Health (or equivalent authority) in the importing country before shipping.

Getting Started

If you plan to export animals to another country, contact a USDA-accredited veterinarian as soon as possible. They will help you determine your destination country's animal entry requirements and assist you through the process of obtaining a USDA-endorsed health certificate and any other needed paperwork.

Look Up Export Requirements

APHIS developed the International Regulations for Animal Exports (IRegs) to provide U.S. exporters with our best understanding of other countries’ import requirements for live animals, including hatching eggs and germplasm.

Country not listed? We have not received their requirements. Contact the destination country's animal health officials (directly or through your importer/buyer) for more information.
