Animal Product Exports
Welcome to the Animal Product Exports portal. U.S. exporters can use the links below to view international requirements and restrictions for U.S. animal-origin products.
Import requirements can change at any time and without prior notice. It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that their importer confirms the current certification requirements with the Ministry of Animal Health (or equivalent authority) in the importing country before shipping the product.
IRegs provide APHIS’ best understanding of importing countries’ requirements for animal-origin products.
These export restrictions apply specifically to animal products for human consumption that are processed or shipped from facilities located in U.S. States or regions affected by certain animal diseases.
APHIS Role in Export Certification
APHIS’ primary role in certifying animal products for export is to attest to the animal health status of the U.S. State or region where the product originates.
For certain eligible products—particularly those covered under the International Animal Product Export Regulations (IRegs)—APHIS may also issue export certificates as required by the importing country.
However, for animal products intended for human consumption, certification is typically handled by other Federal agencies, such as the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) or the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
