Live Animal Export Country Requirements

Summary of Requirements

Please note: Guatemala's Ministry of Agriculture (MAGA) requires a valid import permit prior to the embarkation and importation of animals. The import permit must give the specific requirements if the protocol/model health certificate is not available. Exhibition cocks must be clearly identified as such on the health certificate. If not, they will be destroyed. The exporting party must provide this information.

Note: Guatemala has confirmed that they recognize HPAI and Newcastle restrictions implemented at the COUNTY level, this is a deviation from requirements as written in the protocols. Exporters are advised to adhere to county-level HPAI restrictions until new protocol standards are negotiated.

Note:* A health certificate for this commodity can also be generated through the Veterinary Export Health Certificate System or VEHCS.

APHIS Registered Aquaculture Export Facility approval is required.

If your species is not listed, the requirements for that species are not known. Exporters who want to ship livestock or germplasm whose requirements are not listed above should have the importer or buyer in the destination country apply for an import permit at the appropriate ministry. This import permit will most likely outline the specific requirements.
