Travel Requirements Based on Pet Type

- It is the responsibility of the veterinarian to make sure the pet has met all health requirements of the destination country before issuing a health certificate.
- Failure to meet the requirements may result in problems gaining certificate endorsement or difficulties upon arrival in the destination country.
- Health certificates must be legible, accurate, and complete.
Visit Bringing Pets into Thailand website for complete travel requirements for sending a dog or cat to Thailand. The site includes information about applying for and submitting an import permit application.
Pet(s) traveling with a person:
- Pet(s) must be at least 4 months old
- Import permit
- Health certificate issued by your accredited veterinarian and endorsed by USDA APHIS Veterinary Services. The requirements that your pet must meet are outlined in the provided health certificate.
- Copy of Pet Owners Passport.
Pet(s) traveling alone:
- Import permit
- Notify Thailand’s Quarantine Station of the pet’s travel plans.
- The US address where pet(s) will ship from and Thailand address where pet(s) are staying.
- Copy of Flight itinerary of pet(s).
- Copy of shipper’s passport.
- Copy of pick up person’s passport.
- Health certificate issued by your accredited veterinarian and endorsed by USDA APHIS Veterinary Services. The requirements that your pet must meet are outlined in the provided health certificate.

For pet travel requirements not listed, APHIS has not been officially informed by the foreign country about the requirements for your pet’s travel. We recommend that you contact a government official of the country you are traveling to for more information.
