APHIS Updates Cold Treatment Documentation Requirements

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is pleased to announce key updates to the Commodity Treatment Information System-Modernization (CTIS-M) that will impact cold treatment documentation requirements starting January 1, 2025. These updates reflect our commitment to enhancing efficiency and reducing administrative burdens without compromising treatment integrity.

With the implementation of the new CTIS-M Cold Treatment Module in the upcoming calendar year, a paper copy of the Calibration Report will no longer be required. However, please note that records produced under the old PPQ Form 556 system will still need to include the Calibration Report until the transition is complete.

Additionally, the APHIS Quarantine Policy Analysis and Support staff want to remind stakeholders that the “Instructions to Captain" form letter is not required for cold treatment commodities.

These changes underscore our ongoing modernization efforts to improve regulatory practices and reduce redundancies. If you have any questions or need further information, please reach out for support during this transition. Thank you for your continued collaboration in advancing our shared goals.
