European Union - Animal-Origin Pet Supplements (including “Neutraceuticals”)

Some border inspection posts (BIPs) may exempt certain pet supplements (E.g. glucosamine capsules) from certification requirements. However, unless the products meet the requirements to be considered by the BIP to be a pharmaceutical under EU regulations, the BIP may require a Regulation 142/2011 Chapter 3A (for retort processed products) or Chapter 3B (for products not produced through retort processing) Health Certificate. As always, exporters should have their importers confirm with the pertinent BIP prior to shipment what certification, if any, is required for the materials to be exported.
