Tip 1
Before your show, check with the veterinarian to make sure your pig has the vaccines and tests needed to be healthy.
Tip 2
Before, during, and after each show, monitor your pig’s health daily.
- Is your pig eating normally?
- Is your pig coughing, thumping, or having trouble breathing?
- Does your pig have a fever?
- Does your pig have any skin discoloration?
- Does your pig appear depressed?
- Does your pig have loose stools?
- Does your pig limp or have sores on its feet?
Tip 3
Keep pigs that return from a show isolated for at least 30 days and watch for signs of illness.
Tip 4
If you see any signs of illness, tell your veterinarian right away.
