APHIS Amends Light Brown Apple Moth (Epiphyas postvittana) Import Requirements for Fruits and Vegetables from New Zealand

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal Plant and Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is amending the entry requirements for the importation of certain commercially produced fruits and vegetables from New Zealand to remove the phytosanitary certificate additional declaration requirement stating that the fruit was inspected and found free of light brown apple moth (LBAM).

Currently, fruit imported from New Zealand into the United States must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate with an additional declaration stating that the fruit is free of LBAM. Based on the findings of a commodity import evaluation document (CIED), APHIS is removing the requirement for the additional declaration.
