APHIS Definitions

Bovine: Bos taurus, Bos indicus, and Bison bison (domestic cattle, bison)

Bovid: All members of the family Bovidae, including domestic cattle, bison, water buffalo, yak, and related species

Cervid: All members of the family Cervidae and hybrids, including deer, elk, moose, caribou, reindeer, and related species

Camelid: All species of the family Camelidae, including camels, guanacos, llamas, alpacas, and vicunas

Prohibited: The importation of this commodity is banned by Federal regulations.

Not Currently Allowed: The importation of this commodity is not currently allowed due to other foreign animal diseases of concern in the country of origin, the lack of a negotiated or updated import protocol, or the lack of a negotiated export health certificate from the country of origin. Allowed: The importation of this commodity is permitted.

FMD: Foot-and-mouth disease

CSF: Classical swine fever

ASF: African swine fever

BSE: Bovine spongiform encephalopathy

SVD: Swine vesicular disease
