Case Manager
This course prepares individuals for the duties associated with being a case manager. It trains participants to serve as the liaison and single point of contact with the owner or producer of a single or multiple infected premises.
A case manager reports to the operations section chief or the disease management branch director and helps coordinate such things as depopulation and disposal, options for virus elimination, and environmental sampling. They monitor, report the processes, and help with issues that develop on an infected premises from the time of known infection until the quarantine is released. Individuals will also learn how a case manager works with field reimbursement specialists, contracting officer representatives, and site managers. In the event there is no site manager, they perform site evaluations and establish biosecurity.
Upon completion of this course, the participant’s name will be added to the VS National Preparedness and Incident Coordination (NPIC) list of individuals who can deploy to an incident and work as a case manager.
