Important!

Before choosing one of the health certificates below, you must read Finland, Malta, Ireland (including Northern Ireland*, and Norway's* pet travel requirements.

Note: Dogs must be treated for tapeworms by an Accredited Veterinarian BEFORE traveling to Finland, Malta, or Ireland (including Northern Ireland), or Norway.

*Northern Ireland and Norway are not part of the European Union (EU) but follow EU requirements.

Pet Dogs, Cats or Ferrets

Notice: The pets must arrive in the EU within 10 days from the date USDA endorses the "Non-commercial" health certificate. 

Non-commercial Health Certificate for DOGS

Dogs must be treated for tapeworms by an Accredited Veterinarian 24 to 120 hours (1 to 5 days) before scheduled arrival in the EU country. This treatment can happen before or after USDA endorsement of the health certificate.

Non-commercial Health Certificate for CATS and/or FERRETS

*Designated person is a family member, friend, or other person authorized by the owner to travel with the pets.

Notice: The pets must arrive in the EU within 10 days from the date USDA endorses the "Non-commercial" health certificate. 

Notice: The designated person must travel with the pet if the owner is traveling within 5 days of the pet’s travel. The pet can only travel alone if it is using a commercial health certificate.

Non-commercial Health Certificate for DOGS

Notice: The pets must arrive in the EU within 10 days from the date USDA endorses the "Non-commercial" health certificate. 

Notice: The designated person must travel with the pet if the owner is traveling within 5 days of the pet’s travel. The pet can only travel alone if it is using a commercial health certificate.

If the owner or designated person CANNOT travel with the animal but is traveling within 5 days (before or after) of the pet, the exporter may submit a Non-Commercial health certificate as long as they provide a justification for not traveling with the pet/s and the owner’s travel information along with the health certificate.

Pets transiting through the EU to a non-EU country as the final destination without their owners or designated person can use a Non-Commercial health certificate as long as the owners are traveling within 5 days and must provide a justification and travel information along with the certificate. Otherwise, the pet/s must travel with a Commercial Dog, Cats, and Ferret health certificate.

Accredited Veterinarians Notice: For proper triage of commercial EU/UK certificates, Dogs and Cats, Dogs only, and Cats only commodities are now available for all EU/UK countries on VEHCS. Please select these commodities as appropriate when submitting commercial certificates to EU/UK countries.

Commercial Health Certificate for DOGS

Commercial Health Certificate for CATS and/or FERRETS (NO DOGS)

Notice: The pets must leave the U.S. within 48 hours from the date the Accredited Veterinarian issues the "Commercial" health certificate.
