Learn about career possibilities in the plant, animal, and veterinary sciences and how USDA protects America’s food supply. Over a period of 2 weeks, you’ll live on the university’s campus, engage in team building activities and interpersonal development workshops, and explore the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) campus.

Students will also learn about student support services on campus and participate in laboratory exercises under the supervision of plant and animal scientists and veterinarians from the university and USDA. Students will gain the tools necessary to participate in daily hands-on activities with several programs within USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), including Plant Protection and Quarantine, Wildlife Services, and Veterinary Services. Field trips will allow you to experience the vast aspects of the U.S. food and agriculture system.

UIUC is a world-class, comprehensive research university, established in 1867 as the land-grant institution in Illinois. The university’s College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) is recognized as a leader in many sciences, particularly in the disciplines of agricultural and biological engineering and the crop, animal, and nutritional sciences. At ACES, we do the work that keeps the world working. We advocate for healthy communities and sustainable environmental, agricultural, and human resources. Our graduates are inventors, educators, entrepreneurs, scientists, and so much more.
