Export Animal Products to Denmark

Last Modified: March 28, 2024

This country is a member state of the European Union. In addition to any commodity-specific information listed on this page, the European Union has harmonized requirements for certain animal-origin products. Visit Export Animal Products to the European Union to learn more about harmonized protocols.

Denmark requires the Danish importer to obtain an import permit (from the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration) for the import of almost all animal-origin commodities.

Language Requirement for Certificates

Most EU member countries require health certificates to be bilingual, in the languages of both the exporting country and the importing country.

The government of Denmark has indicated (for shipments where the port of entry into the EU and the destination of the shipment is in Denmark) that if certificates are in English, they do not have to be bilingual.

As always, the exporter should have their importer confirm prior to shipment that the endorsed certificate meets all requirements.
