CHAPTER 43 MODEL ANIMAL HEALTH/OFFICIAL CERTIFICATE FOR THE ENTRY INTO THE UNION OF RAW MATERIALS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF GELATINE AND COLLAGEN INTENDED FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION (MODEL TCG) [Incorporating changes from Regulation 2022/36]

The RCG is only available at this time for untreated fish-origin materials.  Currently materials derived from non-fish species would have to be “treated” prior to being exported on the TCG in order to be utilized in the EU (or after transiting the EU) for the manufacture of gelatin/collagen for human consumption.  For information on the TCG, please go back to the previous page and select the applicable link.

The “Annex III: MODEL CERTIFICATE FOR THE TRANSIT THROUGH THE UNION, IMMEDIATE TRANSIT OR AFTER STORAGE, FOR RAW MATERIALS OR TREATED RAW MATERIALS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF GELATINE/COLLAGEN FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION” previously available (before 2022) for consignments transiting the European Union (EU) is no longer accepted by the EU.  The “CHAPTER 43 MODEL ANIMAL HEALTH/OFFICIAL CERTIFICATE FOR THE ENTRY INTO THE UNION OF RAW MATERIALS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF GELATINE AND COLLAGEN INTENDED FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION (MODEL RCG)” (as amended) is now required whether the consignment is:

  • Being imported into the EU (i.e., a “for internal use” shipment); or
  • Transiting (without storage) the EU; or
  • Transiting (with storage) the EU.

Facilities must be listed by APHIS for this certificate prior to endorsement of the certificate.   Please contact your Field Operations Veterinary Export Trade Services for details on how to request any required listings and certificates.

The RCG may only be used for materials that have not been processed in any way (other than cutting or cooling). Materials that have been processed in any way (other than cutting or cooling) would have to be exported with the TCG if they are going to (or transiting) the EU for the manufacture of gelatine/collagen for human consumption.

Please note facilities exporting on this certificate must not only be listed as eligible on the internal APHIS database but also be listed on the EU’s TRACES-NT website in the “RCG Raw materials for the production of gelatine and collagen” section, which is available on the EU’s website.
