NAHMS Poultry Studies

In collaboration with USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), the NAHMS Poultry 2025 Small Enterprise Study, currently underway, will provide important information about management and biosecurity practices used on U.S. small enterprise poultry operations. Data collection will occur from October 2025 through November 2025.

This national study invites selected producers to participate from all 50 States and focuses on operations with table egg layers (300 to 74,999 inventory); broilers (300 to 199,999 moved or sold annually); and meat turkeys (300 to 59,999 moved or sold annually). Participants can complete the questionnaire using their choice of one of three modes: a paper questionnaire, an online web survey, or a telephone interview with a NASS enumerator.

In addition, NAHMS has conducted five studies on health and management practices on U.S. poultry operations: Layers 2013, Poultry 2010, Poultry Small Enterprise 2007, Poultry 2004, and Layers 1999.
