Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA) Defined



An organized body of information, usually of a factual or procedural nature which, if applied, makes adequate performance on the job possible.


The proficient manual, verbal, or mental manipulation of data or things. It is desirable, quantifiable, and measurable; e.g., skill in typing, skill in operating a vehicle, skill in editing for transposed numbers, skill in distinguishing batches of cloth of the same basic color by small differences in shade.


Capability to perform an observable activity at the present time; e.g., ability to write reports, ability to analyze numerical data, ability to plan and organize work.
