Following is a summary of the ISA surveillance conducted throughout the calendar year 2014:
In 2014 there were 639 total samples collected during 77 inspections at 12 sites. There were no cages confirmed positive for ISA this year. In fact, there have been no confirmed cages since February 2006. Biosecurity audits were conducted on active sites as could be scheduled during the calendar year. All sites remained Category 1 (presumed negative) throughout the year and were scheduled for monthly surveillance inspections; although, some inspections were not completed due to inclement weather.
Several sites completed harvest in 2014. Four sites were stocked with juveniles in the spring and summer. Several sites were fallow as of December 31st; some of these fallow sites will be stocked this coming spring.
