How To Prevent the Spread of Pests While Traveling

Here’s how you can help protect our crops and trees from invasive pests:

  • Declare all food, plants, animals, and related products to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer or agriculture specialist at your first port of entry.

  • Be aware that some items are restricted to protect public health, the environment, and U.S. agriculture from harmful pests and diseases.
  • Report suspected agricultural smuggling to APHIS' Smuggling Interdiction and Trade Compliance unit.
