APHIS Seeks Comment on Proposed Import Market Expansion for Fresh Pineapple From Taiwan
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is inviting public comment on a proposal to expand the import market for fresh pineapple (Ananas comosus) from Taiwan to the entire United States. Currently, pineapple from Taiwan is permitted only into Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI).
Based on the findings of the pest risk analysis, APHIS is proposing to allow imports of fresh pineapple from Taiwan into the entire United States under specific safeguarding measures outlined in the risk management document.
The pest risk analysis will be available for public review in the Federal Register for a 60-day comment period ending on May 4, 2026. To view the notice and submit comments, visit www.regulations.gov and enter "APHIS-2025-0637" in the search field.
