APHIS Seeks Comment on Draft Pest Risk Assessment for the Importation of Chinese Cabbage for Consumption From the Republic of Korea into all United States

The National Plant Protection Organization of the Republic of Korea has asked USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) to authorize the expansion of its existing market access for fresh Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa subsp. pekensis) into all the United States. Currently, Chinese cabbage from the Republic of Korea is permitted only into Guam and the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands. APHIS has drafted a pest risk assessment that evaluates potential pests associated with the commodity.

APHIS shares draft pest risk assessments to determine whether stakeholders have information that might lead us to revise the draft assessment before we identify pest mitigations and proceed with the commodity import approval process.
