The National Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Program (NADPRP) helps our country prepare for the most critical animal health threats facing U.S. livestock industries today. Through NADPRP, APHIS partners with States, Tribes, producer organizations, universities and others to carry out projects that enhance local, regional, and national capabilities to prevent, prepare for, and respond to animal disease outbreaks.
In fiscal year (FY) 2025, APHIS is making up to $16.5 million available to support projects in the following priority areas:
- Develop, enhance, and exercise State and Tribal animal disease outbreak emergency response plans
- Support livestock and poultry biosecurity measures and programs
- Enhance depopulation, carcass disposal, and decontamination capabilities for animal disease outbreaks
- Support animal movement decisions in a disease outbreak
- Enhance animal disease traceability during a disease outbreak
- Support outreach and education on animal disease prevention, preparedness, and response topics
- Develop and deliver training and exercises to improve animal disease outbreak response capabilities
- Commodity-specific topics (for example, projects to advance the development of sheep and goat vaccines or to prevent and prepare for foreign and emerging aquatic animal diseases)
