NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY – ILLINOIS: Wildlife Services (WS), a program within the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), has issued a Decision and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for a Supplement to the 2014 Environmental Assessment (EA) titled “White-tailed Deer Damage Management in Illinois”.  The EA analyzed potential impacts to the quality of the human environment from the potential implementation of alternative approaches to address damage associated with white-tailed deer in Illinois.  WS issued a Decision and FONSI for the EA on February 2, 2015, selecting the proposed action alternative.  The proposed action alternative in the EA evaluated an integrated methods approach to reducing white-tailed deer damage when WS receives a request for assistance.  WS prepared a supplement to the EA to analyze updated information including individual and cumulative impacts of proposed activities.

Based on the analyses contained in the EA, the 2015 Decision/FONSI, and the Final Supplement to the EA, WS concluded that continued implementation of the proposed action (Alternative 1), as supplemented, would not have a significant impact upon the quality of the human environment.  WS signed a new Decision and FONSI on June 21, 2022, selecting to continue implementing the proposed action alternative, as supplemented.
