Louisiana - Mammal

NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY – Louisiana:  Wildlife Services (WS), a program within the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), has issued a Decision and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for a final Environmental Assessment (EA) titled “Managing Damage and Threats of Damage Caused by Mammals in Louisiana”.  The EA analyzed potential environmental effects of alternative strategies to WS involvement in mammal damage management in Louisiana.  The proposed action is to implement an integrated approach using a variety of methods to reduce mammal damage to agricultural resources, property, and natural resources, and threats to human health and safety.  Based on the analyses contained in the EA and the associated Decision and FONSI, WS concluded that implementation of the proposed action (Alternative 1) would not have a significant impact upon the quality of the human environment.  WS signed the Decision and FONSI on September 8, 2022, selecting the proposed action alternative.
