Threatened and Endangered Species

Florida

Florida

Florida's natural lands and waters bring billions of dollars in economic benefits to the State every year. The forests, rivers, creeks, and coastal areas are vital to the survival of native plants and animals. Some of these native species are struggling to survive as encroachment from human populations occurs while the modified landscape is allowing other populations of urban wildlife and invasive species to thrive. To assist with conservation measures in Florida, Wildlife Services protects threatened and endangered species from wildlife predation and damage. Forty-seven species are protected by WS, including five sea turtle species, eight species of endangered rodents, and six bird species.
