Integrated Wildlife Damage Management Approaches and Methods

WS provides assistance to the public. WS provides partnership-based Federal leadership to help resolve wildlife conflicts through an integrated wildlife damage management (IWDM) approach. WS personnel use the WS Decision Model to determine the most appropriate course of action when responding to requests for assistance. WS Directives entitled, “ Selecting Wildlife Damage Management Methods and “ The WS Integrated Damage Management Program require that a range of management approaches and alternatives be evaluated in selecting a course of action. WS employs or recommends three management approaches to reduce wildlife damage: resource management, physical exclusion, and wildlife management. Management approaches may be applied to prevent probable future losses (preventative damage management) or to stop losses from continuing (corrective damage management). WS provides help to people with wildlife damage problems through technical assistance and operational damage management assistance.
