Under the Plant Pest and Disease Management and Disaster Prevention Program, APHIS funds projects organized around specific goal areas that represent critical needs and opportunities to strengthen, prevent, detect, and mitigate invasive pests and diseases. The six strategic goal areas include:
Through the Plant Pest and Disease Management and Disaster Prevention Program, APHIS provides funding to strengthen and safeguard the nation’s agricultural infrastructure. In fiscal year (FY) 2022, APHIS is allocating $63.2 million to support 344 project that expand or enhance pest survey, identification, inspection, mitigation, risk analysis, and public education and outreach. Additionally, approximately $15.54 million of the funding will be reserved for responding to pest and plant health emergencies throughout the year.
