In the United States
Importers and exporters have four options for obtaining ISPM 15-compliant wood packing material in the United States:
For sources of compliant WPM or to become an ISPM 15 compliant manufacturer, please contact:
American Lumber Standard Committee (ALSC)
(Heat Treatment or Fumigation options)
Phone number: 301-972-1700
Web Address: www.alsc.org
The American Lumber Standard Committee (ALSC) in coordination with APHIS and the wood packaging industry developed and administers fumigation and heat treatment programs for wood packing materials. ALSC also implemented a quality control program for the official labeling of heat treated WPM with the ISPM 15 official mark to signify compliance with the ISPM 15 standard. The programs require WPM producers to enroll with an inspection agency accredited by the ALSC.
In Other Countries
Importers sourcing wood packing material in other countries should use packing materials from a registered and accredited manufacturer that has been heat treated or fumigated according to the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) regulations. Importers should contact the National Plant Protection Organization of the shipment’s country of origin for more information. A list of country contacts is available on the IPPC Web site: https://www.ippc.int/en/countries/all/contactpoints/
