APHIS Opens Market for Live Poultry and Hatching Eggs to Turkmenistan

Nov. 20, 2018 - On October 10, APHIS reached agreement with the Government of Turkmenistan on certification for the export of U.S. live poultry and hatching egg exports to the Central Asian nation. This marks the first bilateral agreement APHIS has reached with Turkmenistan and represents a significant step towards opening markets for other live animals and bovine genetics. Recently, the Turkmen government allocated substantial resources, both financial and technical, to facilitate the development of its agricultural markets, particularly the national poultry industry. The estimated value of this new market is $10 million per year.
