APHIS Wildlife Disease Monitoring and Management Course: From May 23 – 28, 2016 APHIS Wildlife Services, International Services and Veterinary Services, implemented the Wildlife Disease Monitoring and Management Course at the National Wildlife Research Center in Fort Collins, Colorado. There were 14 international participants that attended the course from Armenia, Ecuador, Egypt, India, Kenya, Liberia, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Philippines, South Africa, Tanzania, and Thailand. The course introduced participants to core concepts of wildlife disease control and surveillance and some of the applied field techniques used to execute these concepts. Practical demonstrations during the course included trapping and immobilization exercises and an outbreak management simulation exercise. The course also included diagnostic sampling exercises with the Colorado State University, Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. Funding for this activity was provided by the Department of Defense, Cooperative Biological Engagement Program.
