Automated Commercial Environment

The Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) is the system the U.S. Government uses to process imports and exports. Importers can now use ACE to submit APHIS-required import data for APHIS-regulated products.  If you have questions about APHIS import requirements, go to APHIS’ Import/Export web page.

Ready to Get Started?

1. You must obtain the appropriate software to use the APHIS Core Message Set to file APHIS-required import data in ACE. Please note that there is a separate message set for filing Lacey Act declarations.
2. If you choose to purchase software, make sure the software supports the APHIS Core Message Set. View the list of ACE-approved software vendors. ACE services 47 partner government agencies, so it is important that any software you purchase supports APHIS’ unique needs.
3. When choosing a software vendor, make sure your purchase includes technical support. APHIS’ data requirements may change over time, and software vendors will need to provide updates and technical support.
4. If you have questions about APHIS import requirements, go to APHIS’ import/export web page.
5. If you have technical questions about using the APHIS Core Message Set to file APHIS-required import data in ACE, email the APHIS ACE team at ace.itds@usda.gov.
6. If you choose not to use the APHIS Core Message Set to file APHIS-required import data in ACE, you will need to provide all your APHIS-required import information in paper form. This may result in slower customs review and increased costs due to longer review times for paper submissions, the potential for lost and/or delayed paperwork, and the inability to anticipate issues.
