The National Animal Health Monitoring System (NAHMS) Unit conducts national studies on the health and health management of United States domestic livestock, equine, aquaculture and poultry populations. NAHMS has conducted six studies on health and management practices on U.S. dairy operations: Dairy 2014, Dairy Heifer Raiser 2011, Dairy 2007, Dairy 2002, Dairy 1996, and National Dairy Heifer Project (NDHEP) 1991-1992. NAHMS also publishes an annually updated Bulk-Tank Somatic Cell Count (BTSCC) dashboard in a partnership with USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service.
