*NOTICE REGARDING PET FOOD FACILITY IMPORT PERMITS*
As of April 15, 2015, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is no longer issuing import permits for shelf-stable, heat processed pet foods and treats from U.S. origin bovinae pet food facilities. Import permits will continue to be required for other pet food commodities, such as raw (BARF) diets. Exporters are advised to work with their importers to ensure all entry requirements are met.
*NOTICE REGARDING EXPORTS OF U.S. ORIGIN, HEAT-PROCESSED PET FOODS, TREATS & COMPOUND CHEWS TO CANADA*
All U.S. origin, heat-processed, shelf stable pet foods, treats, and compound chews shipped to Canada on or after September 1, 2015, must be certified for export to Canada by APHIS/Veterinary Services. As of July 1, 2016, all U.S. origin, heat-processed, shelf-stable pet foods, treats and compound chews must be certified for export to Canada by APHIS/VS on the basis of APHIS inspection and approval of the manufacturing facilities.
