Colombia - Summary of Requirements for Animals

Colombia requires that all animal shipments, except pet dogs and cats, be accompanied by an import permit issued in advance by Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario (ICA).

Colombia will reject animal shipments without import permits.

Please note: Colombia requires prior approval of installations or farms before the importation of animals into Colombia, except pet dogs and cats. Below are the forms to be completed and submitted prior to the exportation.

The questionnaires must be signed by a veterinarian accredited by USDA. Interested party must obtain a certification from USDA that such veterinarian is accredited, and submit it to ICA

Other Animals

For species not listed, the requirements are not known. However, exporters wanting to ship livestock or germplasm whose requirements are not listed in the IREGS, should have the interested party (importer/buyer) in the country of destination apply for an Import Permit at the appropriate ministry. This Import Permit will most likely outline the specific requirements.
