The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is recognizing an additional area of the Republic of Chile as a pest-free area for Mediterranean fruit fly ( Ceratitis capitata). Based on APHIS' site visit to the area and review of the documentation submitted by the Republic of Chile, which were made available to the public for review and comment through a previous notice, the Administrator has determined that the area meets APHIS' criteria for recognition as a pest-free area for Medfly.

This action was published in the June 10 Federal Register and becomes effective upon publication.
