Summary:
APHIS is announcing the availability of a Pest Risk Analysis (PRD) and Risk Management Document (RMD) to consider the importation of fresh fig fruit from Peru into the continental United States. The comment period will open on March 14, 2016. The RMD suggests the fig fruit be irradiated upon arrival to reduce the risks of quarantine pests entering the United States on the host fruit. The fresh fig fruit will be required to enter the continental United States in commercial consignments certified by the national plant protection organization (NPPO) in Peru. Comments will be accepted by mail and online for 60 days starting March 14, 2016. The comment period will close on May 13, 2016
