APHIS Determines Animal Health Status of Cyprus for Four Diseases

APHIS has determined that the Republic of Cyprus is free of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), rinderpest, and swine vesicular disease (SVD), and is low risk for classical swine fever (CSF).  This determination will allow the importation of meat and meat products into the United States from Cyprus under certain restrictions, while continuing to mitigate the risk of introducing these diseases into the United States.  While this action covers the majority of the country, it does not include areas north of the United Nations buffer zone, known as the Green Line.

On January 23, 2017 APHIS proposed this action and invited the public to comment.  APHIS did not receive any comments during the comment period.
