Slovakia - Summary of Requirements for Animals

Slovakia is a Member State of the European Union. Bilingual health certificates are available for some commodities/species (see below). If the bilingual certificate for that species or commodity is not listed below, please refer to the English version on the link to the European Union. It is the responsibility of the exporter to obtain a bilingual certificate if it is not listed below.

SPECIES - MOST RECENT UPDATE

Bovine Embryos

  • Bovine embryos, Annex II - Health certificate for in vivo derived embryos collected in accordance with Council Directive 89/556/EEC - January 2013 (pdf 110kb)

Bovine Semen

  • Model 1: Health certificate for imports into and transits through the EU of bovine semen dispatched from a semen collection center where the semen was collected
  • Model 3: Health certificate for imports into and transits through the EU of bovine semen dispatched from a semen storage center  


Pets

NOTE:
For animals older than 16 weeks of age, 21 days must elapse from the date of the primary rabies vaccination before a pet is eligible to travel to the EU. A rabies vaccine is considered primary if either:

(1) the animal was vaccinated for the first time.
(2) the animal was vaccinated for the first time after a microchip was implanted, or
(3) vaccination was not carried out within the period of validity of a previous vaccination

  • Dogs, Cats and Ferrets- Health Certificate (Non-commercial movement of five or less animals) - December 2014
    • Certificate instructions certificates with explanatory notes
    • Declaration: Use only if animals are either less than 12 weeks of age and not vaccinated for rabies, or between 12-16 weeks of age and vaccinated but 21 days has not elapsed since the date of vaccination.
    • Declaration: Use only if animals are transiting an unlisted country (the US is listed).  Not relevant if animals are exported directly from the United States.

The import of puppies or kittens under 3 months of Food Administration including the following information: the breed of animal, date of birth, sex, owner/ responsible person who will be in charge of the animal at the place where the quarantine will be conducted, microchip number, means of transport, and date and place of entry into the EU.
