EMRS 2.0 is a web-based application used for the reporting of routine investigations of foreign animal diseases (FADs), surveillance and control programs, state specific disease outbreaks, and national animal health emergency responses (all-hazards). The user experience has been greatly enhanced in EMRS 2.0 to make it easier for users to input data and manage tasks.

Veterinary Services (VS) is responsible for detecting and responding to animal diseases incidents that occur within the United States and must cooperatively manage the data related to such outbreaks with our state and tribal partners. This requires a system that is available nationwide and is flexible to support numerous data requirements collected through various methods. EMRS supports this mission by providing a secure accessible system for data collection, management, and analysis utilizing a web-based comprehensive investigation, task and resource management suite and a universal information platform. Primary users of EMRS are Federal, State and Tribal Veterinary Medical Officers, Animal Health Officials, Animal Health Technicians, Animal Disease Specialists and Epidemiologists. First deployed in 2001, EMRS continues to satisfy its mission goals, providing Veterinary Services and cooperators with a management system for:

  • Responses to animal disease outbreaks
  • Routine surveillance of Foreign Animal Disease (FAD)
  • Emerging Disease Investigations (EDI)
  • All Hazard Animal Incidents
