Animal Welfare is of high interest and visibility both nationally and worldwide. To accommodate this interest, the Animal Care program has grown over time and taken on additional responsibilities to ensure the health and wellness of the animals that are protected by the Animal Welfare Act, the Horse Protection Act, and affected by disasters. Animal Care is realigning its functions, duties, and employees to create a modern, flexible organization that will enable us to more easily grow and adapt to future challenges and changes.
Animal Care’s new and more flexible structure is effective October 1, 2014. This structure will be comprised of four core business units: Field Operations; Collaboratory; Resource Management Support; and Information Technology.
The realignment will bring better consistency and efficiency to Animal Care, enhancing our ability to protect the welfare of regulated animals.
