  Dr. Doug Eckery

Dr. Eckery is the Project Leader for NWRC's Contraceptive Technologies for Use in Wildlife Population and Disease Management Project. His research is aimed towards the development of new methods of fertility control that can be integrated into wildlife management strategies. Dr. Eckery spent 17 years in New Zealand researching the reproductive biology of the brushtail possum and investigating methods of fertility control for this species, and he played a key role in establishing the National Research Centre for Possum Biocontrol.  He is an adjunct faculty of the School of Biological Sciences at Victoria University of Wellington (NZ) and the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University where he is also an affiliated faculty of the Animal Reproduction and Biotechnology Laboratory.

  • Mechanisms regulating growth and development of primordial follicles
  • Use of GonaCon™ to manage wildlife populations (e.g. deer, prairie dogs, wild horses) and feral dogs
