U.S.-South Africa Plant Health Discussion

On November 25, APHIS' Plant Protection & Quarantine staff held technical discussions via teleconference with counterparts from the South African Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF). As a result, DAFF will develop a pilot program to adjust the cold treatment schedule for its citrus (May-October 2014 season) through the U.S. entry ports of Philadelphia and Newark. Officials also discussed access for apples from Washington, Idaho, and Oregon to South Africa.
