Georgia is the largest state in the southeast and, being one of the original colonies, was named for George II of England. Georgia enjoys a diverse environment such as the Smoky Mountains, the Atlantic beaches, and the Okefenokee Swamp. It also enjoys a diverse animal population including the largest poultry production in the nation.
Georgia Veterinary Services protects animal health and promotes global marketability of animals and animal products by providing courteous, prompt, and knowledgeable services to our customers and stake holders. Our activities involve monitoring and surveillance of animal diseases which includes investigating and responding to emerging and foreign animal diseases. Additional activities involve health certification of animals and animal products for export. Atlanta is the home of Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport - one of the busiest airports in the world. Our primary activities at the airport include facilitating the export of horses and the import of hatching eggs, semen and embryos, aquaculture, and returning pet birds.
Georgia Veterinary Services safeguards animal agriculture by working closely with the Georgia Department of Agriculture, other animal health professionals, and livestock producers.
