Archives

The NWRC Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) was established to ensure that Center scientific studies comply with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) Standards. GLP Standards also require an archives for storage of data and records. Thus, the NWRC Archives was initiated in 1990 to maintain records of research studies and related documents.

Though the archives was initially founded to store GLP study data and records, historical materials also accumulated. As the collections of both types of materials grew, the NWRC Archives split into 2 separate archives—the NWRC Organizational Archives and the Quality Assurance Unit Archives—though both archives continue to share space. Additionally, due to a reorganization in 2000, the Records Manager/Archivist became responsible solely for historical and organizational records, while the QAU records became the responsibility of QAU staff.
