Oral History in the Federal Government

Oral history is a valuable method for preserving the knowledge and understanding of past generations.  The Wildlife Services Trapping Oral History Initiative is one of many projects undertaken in federal agencies to document work and experiences of current and past employees.  The U.S Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), through the National Conservation Training Center, conducts oral histories of retired personnel and periodically interviews former Wildlife Services’ employees (Wildlife Services was part of the FWS from 1940-1986).
