Pesticide poisoning suspected at bird morbidity/mortality event in Tennessee (2008)
The state office responded to several calls about dead birds scattered throughout Orlinda, TN. Common grackles and red-winged blackbirds were found in the middle of streets, yards, ditches, etc., in a “shotgun-like” pattern within a four block radius. Twenty birds were submitted for necropsy and tested positive for chlorinated pesticides.
