SPECIAL INTEREST

Chronic wasting disease sampling (July 2008)
WDB Betsill met with North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission (NCWRC) personnel to discuss plans for chronic wasting disease (CWD) sampling this fall. NCWRC does an intensive systematic sample of the state at 5 year intervals. WS will assist in collections during this intensified effort.

North Carolina cooperates with NWRC researcher (2008)
Plans were finalized for a visit by Dr. Richard Engemann to tour commercial swine areas and make recommendations for a population index study using trail cameras and passive track technique.
