Louisiana reports Encephalitozoon cuniculi in rabbits (2008)
Domestic rabbits at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans were dying from E. cuniculi. There was concern that wild rabbits living on the zoo and in an adjacent park might become infected. Zoo officials were interested in capturing and testing wild rabbits for E. cuniculi. Wildlife Services will likely assist with capturing rabbits and obtaining blood samples for testing.
