SPECIAL INTEREST

National Feral Swine Mapping System (NFSMS) updated (June 2008)
The NFMS provides a direct means for continual collection of data on the distribution of feral swine in the United States and makes these data easily accessible to users. The NFSMS reflects that Kansas currently has feral swine in 18 counties with an estimated 1,500-2,000 individuals state-wide.

Seasonal sampling for HPAI begins (June 2008)
In the month of June, WDB Jason Kloft, with the assistance of specialist Hedstrome collected environmental and oral & cloacal samples from wild migratory birds in the Kansas City, Wichita and Council Grove areas.
