Threatened and Endangered Species

Minnesota

Minnesota

Minnesota’s diverse landscape has prairies, boreal forests, deciduous forests, and approximately 10 million acres of wetlands, 69,000 miles of rivers, and 12,000 lakes which provides habitat for a variety of species including the gray wolf.  A primary function of Minnesota WS is to assist livestock producers and pet owners who have experienced losses due to wolf predation.  Each year, WS receives between 100 and 250 complaints about wolves harassing or killing livestock and domestic animals including cattle, horses, sheep, poultry, and dogs.
