Nevada

Due to the limited availability of water and green vegetation outside of urban areas, Nevada has large numbers of waterfowl concentrated within urban areas, including Canada geese, mallards, and coots.  The daily activities of these waterfowl, as they travel between food and water sources, frequently overlaps with airport properties or air travel corridors.  This increases the potential of wildlife/ aircraft collisions.  To address these wildlife hazards, WS personnel in Nevada contributed 0.5 staff years to provide assistance at one civil airport in FY 2010.  In addition, technical training was provided at 1 airport for 3 airport personnel.
